Youth panel debate
Words of Colour has joined forces with Hackney Museum and The Cut Newspaper in hosting Who we are! a media panel debate on young people, identity and portrayal on Thursday 25th February from 5pm-7.30pm at Hackney Museum. The debate will explore how young people are covered in the media, how best to engage them in stories about them and what needs to change. The panel, made up of journalists and young people, will be named shortly. If you’d like to attend this free event contact email.
Summer internship offer
The Pearson Diversity Summer Internship Programme offers bright and talented final year students and graduates from ethnic minority backgrounds the opportunity to work in Pearson’s world leading businesses including Penguin Books, The Financial Times, The Economist or Pearson Education, the world’s largest educational publisher. Two internships are up for grabs – business internships in different departments, and journalism internships at the Financial Times. Creative youth
BBC’s Blast programme for young people who want to get into creative industries, is recruiting for Creative Trainees and Youth Panel members for 2010. The Blast Creative Traineeship is targeted at 18+ and will provide 20 young people with eight week placements across a range of BBC departments including events, online and production. The youth panel needs 10 vocal 13-19 year olds to represent young people in their region. To find out more visit the website.
Small business on TV
Channel 5 is looking for small businesses that need help with their growth strategies from one of the UK’s most successful entrepreneurs for a new TV series. The series will look at the major issues small businesses face on a daily basis in today’s recession-soaked world. Eight small businesses will receive advice and support. Filmmakers fund
Film London’s Film-makers’ Festival Fund aims to support the development of film-makers and moving image artists’ careers by assisting them in promoting themselves and their short film projects at international festivals and markets.
