‘Can I Be Me?’ – A synopsis

This is the story of a black British journalist with a troubled soul and a questioning mind. Addicted to the need for approval, the desire for applause, bright lights and struggle, she’s also on a quest. She is hungry for a place of belonging, comfort and acceptance for her identity – black and British.

That need for acceptance becomes intertwined with her chosen profession – the media. Can she find a place of refuge in her travels and her profession? Esther decides to fight her fix and come clean, but getting clean means spilling her personal beans. Starting with her family all the way into the world of the BBC, Esther spills with abandon. From Ghana to the UK including South Africa, Washington DC, Philadelphia, this international emotional journey asks how far I am prepared to go to get success in my chosen field.

How far will I go to get success in mainstream media? Am I prepared to pay the price for my ambition with my soul? Brutally honest, blackly humorous, emotionally revealing and at times painful, ‘Can I Be Me?’ is a universal story.

‘Can I Be Me’ is available on Amazon.com or can be ordered from Borders.
